Houndstooth Holiday

I love everything about the holiday season, and Thanksgiving is when all of the fabulous holiday traditions begin! One of my favorite things about the holidays {besides family, friends, and food} are the holiday outfits: gold, glitter, and sequins galore! Also, the holidays mean many opportunities to wear festive cocktail dresses.  For Thanksgiving this year, I wore a winter-appropriate houndstooth skirt with a mostly black ensemble and red lips and nails.  I spent Thanksgiving at home with my family, and tried out a new cranberry dish recipe {check out here} that was delicious! It was wonderful day, and it felt great to wear a holiday outfit I loved, but was made from all old pieces from my closet!

Best Friend Birthday Brunch

I recently celebrated the birthday of one of my best friends by going to a fabulous and indulgent brunch.  Brunch is a brilliant concept that I only began to truly appreciate after graduating from college, and the idea of getting dressed up to enjoy good food and drinks late-morning on weekends is just so fun.  The dress code may not have been formal, but I felt like dressing up and wearing a dress that I typically reserve for warmer weather; I wore mostly black, but added a pop of color with a short-sleaved cardigan I had forgot was in my closet - the perks of no shopping never cease to amaze me!

North Market Sunday

The North Market is arguably my favorite place in Columbus; all of the ethnic food is amazing, and I think I could easily spend a million dollars on all of the cheese, wine, cookware, and fresh flowers.  I spent a leisurely Sunday there recently with friends in unseasonably warm weather; we sat outside (didn't even need a jacket!) enjoyed delicious Indian food, and just strolled inside the market - perfect Sunday!  I wore a light button down dress and Italian leather boots with a chunky scarf so it still felt like a true fall outfit. As much as I love being able to sit outside in nice weather, I love cold weather for great fall/winter clothes - even if I can't buy anything new to wear for it!

Cotton Candy Colors

I adore feminine, pastel colors, and I love the idea of wearing them together.  I recently went to brunch with a group of girlfriends and wore a mix of pinks and light blue/greens with brown accessories.  I know these colors are normally reserved for spring, but since I can only shop out of my closet and can't buy any new fall/winter clothes I decided to attempt pastels for fall!

Anthropologie cardigan, The Limited button down shirt, J Crew skirt, BCBG Max Azria sunglasses, Burberry scarf, Michael Kors belt, brown tights from TJ Maxx, Gap flats, Jessica Jensen tote

NOVEMBER without shopping

Where did November go? It seemed to just fly by, and I can't believe we are already into December.  As busy as November was, it was also wonderful - especially Thanksgiving weekend at my parents {one of my favorite holidays!}  As much as I am bummed that fall is officially over, I am beyond excited for the holiday season.  Here is what I did in November that did NOT involve shopping:

went home to see my beautiful puppy Kramer

made a gourmet brunch meal for the boy and I

ate at the fabulous Jury Room in downtown Columbus

got a new pair of glasses by 141 + MacKenzie-Childs holiday catalogue {this was not a fashion-related purchase, it was necessary considering my old glasses had multiple cracks in them} check out 141 {here}

made a trip to Cleveland's West Side Market

Happy December!
